Willie Eselebor is a Research Fellow 1 and holds BA in History, MA & PhD in Peace and Conflict Studies from the University of Ibadan, Nigeria. He is the current Examinations Coordinator and Publications Officer of the Institute. He attended professional training on negotiation and mediation at the Clingendael Institute in The Hague, Kofi Annan International Peacekeeping Training Centre, Accra, Ghana and IPD Summer Academy on Peace building & Intercultural Dialogue in Switzerland. Prior to joining the academic community, he worked with the Nigerian Immigration Service (1980-2012) and attained the rank of Assistant Comptroller of Immigration. He consulted and trained for African Union (AU), Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS), International Organization for Migration (IOM), The Electoral Institute (TEI) among others on migration, integrated border management, election security, monitoring and evaluation. His research interest includes alternative dispute resolution; international borders; security; migration & human Trafficking; and leadership & peacebuilding. He is also the immediate past President of the Society for Peace Studies and Practice (SPSP) 2011-2016; as well as being a Senior Research Fellow of the Institut Francais de Recherche en Afrique (IFRA-Nigeria) and Historical Society of Nigeria (HSN). He is on the Board of Building Blocks for Peace Foundation; Border Areas Development Initiatives and Society for Peace Studies and Practice, including being a member of the Institute of Chartered Mediators & Conciliators (ICMC), Association of Borderlands Studies (ABS) and Network of Foundations & Research Institutions for the Promotion of Culture of Peace in Africa. He has published extensively in his areas of interest.
